Bark Spreaders for the Horticulture Industry: Efficient and Uniform Ground Covering

The bark spreader is a specialized mulching machine designed for the horticulture industry to precisely apply bark (tree bark) to pots and containers. This layer of bark prevents liverwort and reduces weed pressure, significantly improving the health and appearance of plants. An added advantage is the visual enhancement: by adding a thin layer of bark instead of potting soil, plants achieve a well-maintained and attractive presentation.

How the Bark Spreader Works

The bark spreader can be easily positioned behind any potting machine, where it applies a thin layer of bark to pots or containers immediately after potting. With a storage bin capacity of 500 to 1,000 liters, the machine offers ample capacity for continuous use. An adjustable auger transports the bark to the discharge hopper, located above the conveyor belt. The discharge hopper can be adjusted for pot and cutting sizes and is available in various options to ensure that both single-row and double-row pots and trays can be evenly covered. Note that many bark spreaders are primarily designed for round pots, as they rotate to distribute the bark evenly.

The conveyor belt is equipped with a vibration mechanism, ensuring the bark is optimally spread over pots or containers. Any excess bark is collected in a bin beneath the conveyor belt and returned to the storage bin via a return auger. This system minimizes waste and maximizes efficiency.
