About second-hand Dosing hoppers

The dosing hopper is intended to catch a (limited) supply of products and to evenly measure them into the following processing machine, such as a sorting machine. This even and constant flow of products is necessary to enable as high a capacity as possible. In addition the construction of the dosing hopper usually makes an extra elevator superfluous, which prevents unnecessary damage being done to the product.

Multifunctional hopper

A dosing hopper can be used for many bulk products, such as flower bulbs, potatoes, onions, beetroots, carrots, potting compost or cut material. The product is tipped into the dosing hoppers from the boxes by a box tipper or via conveyor belts. The conveyor belt takes the bottom layer of the product each time and the layers above roll or slide in so that an even flow is created.

Most dosing hoppers have a continuous conveyor belt and a soft inner lining to prevent damage to the product occurring. The speed of the dosing hopper is often frequency controlled or otherwise mechanically adjustable. Some dosing hoppers are equipped with options such as: an oscillator (vibrating head), roller set, electronic sensor or a remote control.
