Multihead weighers; accurate weighing for smaller packaging

A multihead weigher is very fast and very accurate, which makes it primarily suitable for smaller packaging units. Multiple weigh hoppers are filled with a small amount of product by means of vibrator gutters. A computer then calculates which combination of weigh hoppers will reach the pre-set target weight. It hardly exceeds this. Multihead weighing machines are used for various types of fruits and vegetables, like cherry tomatoes, beans, salad, pre-sliced fruit or chips. 

Conveyor weighing machines with (mechanical) scale; for batches of products weighing 5kg and more 

The weigh hopper of a weighing machine with a is connected to a mechanical or digital scale. Two conveyor belts (one wide and one narrow) fill the weigh hopper. The moment the set weight is reached in the weigh hopper the wide conveyor belt will come to a standstill and the very last quantities of product will be filled from the narrow conveyor belt. This procedure allows the set weight to be attained as closely as possible. Once this has been reached, the narrow conveyor belt will also come to a halt and the contents of the weigh hopper can be emptied manually. After emptying the hopper, it can be refilled and the cycle repeated. Weighers like this are used for products like potatoes, onions, carrots, red beets and other coarse vegetables.
