About second-hand Ventilators

Fans are used to control the climate when growing as well as storing various types of vegetables and flower bulbs. The movement of warm or cold air allows you to control both climate and humidity, thus allowing you to grow tomato, sweet pepper or cucumber plants better, or store potatoes, onions or carrots longer.

Large fans for storing potatoes, onions, carrots and flower bulbs

Air fans are used in storage facilities for potatoes, onions and flower bulbs. Potatoes, carrots, onions and flower bulbs are often stored in large sheds; in bulk or in cubic crates. To extend the storage period of these products storage sheds can be equipped with air ducts, to which air fans are connected. This improves the circulation of air throughout the storage facility, thus ensuring improved drying and cooling so that potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage or flowering bulbs can be stored longer.

Greenhouse fans for horticultural companies

Fans are also used to improve ventilation and climate control in greenhouses. When fans are used in greenhouses, they ensure that temperature fluctuations remain limited at various positions throughout the greenhouse. In addition to this, fans also allow humidity to be better regulated, thus reducing the chance of disease and infection.

Axial fans

Most fans used in greenhouses or for storage purposes are axial fans. Such a fan moves air lengthwise in proportion to the drive shaft. The advantage to an axial fan is that it doesn’t need a heavy-duty engine, while taking up less space compared to a centrifugal fan. Axial fans are often called industrial fans and are therefore perfectly suited to for greenhouses or storage areas.

Differences in diameter and capacity

Air fans are available in various sizes for both indoor and outdoor use. Not only are there many options with regard to dimensions, there is also a considerable choice with regard to the capacity of the engine that drives the fan. The capacity and size of the fan generally depends on the length of the ventilation ducts. As a result, fans can be provided with various engines, varying up to 4.5 kW in capacity, to enable air to optimally circulate throughout the storage facility and, by doing so, create an ideal climate for the storage of potatoes, onions and/or flower bulbs. However, this does not necessarily mean that a larger fan has a bigger reach than a smaller one.
