Christiaens Agro Systems is a manufacturer of machines for growing and processing various vegetables such as leeks, spring onions, asparagus and cucumber. All machines are produced in Neer in the south of the Netherlands. They produce machines for both small-scale growers and industrial processors.

Christiaens asparagus machines

For asparagus, Christiaens has the following machines in its range:

We do our best to stock a wide range of Christiaens washing and grading machines. A grading machine also includes a washing unit. This allows the asparagus to be prepared for packaging in a single operation. First, the asparagus is washed and cut with the asparagus washer. Washing machines usually include the option to recycle the water, which can save water.

For grading, Christiaens offers two types of grading machines: a thickness grader with laser and a fully automatic grader with vision system. A laser grader can be used to determine the diameter and length of the asparagus with an accurate laser technique. With this type of machine, sorting by quality, such as shape and colour, is done by hand during packing. The automatic camera grading machine with vision system has even more sorting possibilities. This is because it can also measure the single or double curvature, shape and colour of the asparagus. With both types of grading machines, the asparagus can be sent to the desired output after measuring.

Christiaens leek washing machines

The leeks are manually placed on the washing machine feed conveyor, after which the roots and leaves are cut to length at the top. Then the leeks are sprayed with water. Depending on the version of the leek washer, rotating rubber peeling rollers ensure that sand and soil are removed from the leeks. In the leek washer, the leeks are held in place by rubber clamps that prevent the leeks from moving too much. If necessary, the outer leaves are removed manually afterwards, resulting in an optimally cleaned leek. In a Christiaens leek washer, the waste usually falls onto a discharge conveyor under the machine.

Christiaens packaging machines for cucumbers and aubergines

Packing elongated vegetables, such as cucumbers, can be done with a sealing machine. Christiaens' sealing machines are made of stainless steel and are very compact with a high capacity. During packaging, the film is pulled tight by the weight of the product. This system ensures that no surplus film is consumed, saving up to 20% in film. The machine can be supplied on request with different spacing for different products such as cucumbers, leeks, pointed peppers, courgettes, carrots, corn, etc.
