About second-hand Soil furrowing machines
For all types of crops, specific soil cultivation machines are used. These soil cultivation machines are designed to work the agricultural soil in such a way that the crops can grow optimally. Often, cultivating crops leads to soil compaction. Besides cultivation, heavy agricultural machinery also contributes to the increasing density of the soil. A compacted soil is something you want to avoid because it hinders crop growth.
With soil cultivation machines, you can loosen or break up the soil, preventing compaction and creating an optimal soil for your crops. Ridgers and cultivators naturally fall into this category, but also plows, spading machines, and harrowers are soil cultivation machines that are frequently used.
Soil cultivation machines are essential in a successful farming operation. However, new machines can be quite expensive to purchase, especially if you regularly change crops. Therefore, we generally recommend opting for young, second-hand soil cultivation machines. These are more budget-friendly in terms of acquisition, and due to the reliability of these machines, they can often last for a long time!
On this page, you will find all the used soil cultivation machines that we currently have in stock. If you are interested in any of our machines or need assistance in finding the machine that suits you, feel free to contact us so that one of our sales representatives can assist you.
Types of Soil Cultivation
The purpose of soil cultivation is to prepare the seedbed as effectively as possible for an optimal harvest. Since each crop grows differently, soil cultivation varies for each crop. Generally, creating an optimal soil is done by improving water management and root penetration. Depending on the machine, there are different methods of soil cultivation, namely:
Mixing the soil;
Eliminating soil compaction;
Surface cultivation;
Deep cultivation.
Benefits of Soil Cultivation
Choosing the right soil cultivation machine provides the following benefits
Improved water management;
Better air circulation;
Reduction of harmful soil moisture;
Improved root development of crops;
Good absorption of nutrients by crops.
Used Hoeing Machine
One of the most common methods of soil cultivation and weed removal is hoeing. A hoeing machine allows for large-scale, quick, and efficient soil cultivation and weed removal. These machines are used in arable farming, as well as vegetable cultivation and horticulture. A hoeing machine is the perfect solution to keep crops weed-free without the use of pesticides, making it an organic method.
The operation is simple but effective; the hoes cut the weeds 1 to 2 centimeters below the ground, stopping their growth. Hoes can be extended with harrows and fingers to remove weeds even more effectively and push the loose soil towards the crop rows.
Second-hand Plowing Machines
Plowing machines, also called plows or plowshares, are soil cultivation machines used for the cultivation of various vegetables. Root crops, such as leeks, parsnips, and carrots, benefit from a loose root zone in the soil with plenty of air. Breaking the so-called plow pan, therefore, increases yields.
By plowing the soil, you bring the soil into a state that is ideal for the crop to be planted. By applying manure, humus, or compost to the soil before plowing, you add extra nutrients, increasing soil fertility.
Ridge and Row Cultivators
In addition to hoeing and plowing machines, row and ridge cultivators are widely used in arable farming. These cultivators are often used to create a seedbed or ridge. Vegetables such as potatoes and asparagus grow in an elevated "ridge," which is created with ridge cultivators. Row cultivators can also be used for mechanical weed control between the "rows" of your crop.
