About second-hand Soil mixers

Good soil is a precondition for growing healthy plants. This soil can be composed of different types of potting soil, mixed with supplementary nutrients. A good distribution of added substances is visible in the resulting crop. A soil mixer can be used for mixing the substrate.

Aside from machines used to mix additives into potting soil, there are also soil mixers for mixing soil with water. With this type of soil mixer, the right degree of moisture can be obtained for making soil blocks, for example.

There are various types of soil mixers:

Soil mixer for enriching substrate

This type of soil mixer can accurately mix a limited amount of soil. The capacity differs per type of soil mixer, but they are usually able to process around 1.5m³ of soil in 2 to 5 minutes. These soil mixers are generally suitable for different types of soil. Furthermore, they can also be used to break and reduce smaller pressed bales of potting soil. Water can be added to the soil mixture if desired.

Soil mixer for moistening soil for soil blocks

When making soil blocks it is important that the soil has the right degree of moisture. The soil must be so moist that when a ball is made from the soil no moisture can be squeezed out of it. If a soil mixer is part of a soil block line, an accurate soil to water ratio is imperative. This type of soil mixer is available in various models, such as a soil auger or a mixer on a belt.

To test if the soil has the right degree of moisture, make a ball of the soil in your hand and squeeze. If it is moist but no water leaks out, your soil blocks will be perfect.

Manufacturers of soil mixers are Javo, Heto, Visser, Flier, Demtec and Bekidan.  Do you have any questions about a used soil mixer? Our staff will be happy to assist and advise you in selecting a suitable machine.
